To bid at an Ivory Legacy auction you must register in advance. Registration requires:
We reserve the right to refuse registration at our absolute discretion. Registration does not guarantee the right to bid.
The Buyer's Premium is payable by the Buyer in addition to the Hammer Price. The current Buyer's Premium schedule is as follows:
Buyer's Premium is subject to French VAT (TVA) at the applicable rate where required by law. VAT number: FR 32 534826908.
Bids may be placed:
All bids are made in the currency in which the lot is quoted. By bidding you confirm that you have read the catalogue description of the lot and are satisfied with its condition and provenance.
The Auctioneer's decision on all bidding matters is final. The Auctioneer may refuse a bid, withdraw a lot, re-offer it or resolve any dispute at their sole discretion.
When the Auctioneer's hammer falls, a binding contract of sale is formed between the Buyer and the Seller. Title to the lot passes to the Buyer only upon receipt of full payment including Buyer's Premium, applicable taxes and any other charges.
Risk in the lot passes to the Buyer at the fall of the hammer.
Payment of the total amount due must be received within seven (7) calendar days of the sale date. We accept:
Ivory Legacy does not accept cash payments above the legal threshold. Payments must be made in the invoiced currency. We reserve the right to charge interest at 1.5% per month on any overdue amounts.
Buyers are responsible for collecting their purchases within fourteen (14) days of the sale. Storage charges of €60 per lot per day will apply thereafter. We can arrange worldwide shipping and insurance through our approved logistics partners at the Buyer's cost.
Export licences, import permits and any customs duties are the sole responsibility of the Buyer. We will provide documentation to assist, but give no warranty as to the exportability of any lot.
All lots are sold as described in the catalogue and in the condition in which they are found. Catalogue descriptions are provided in good faith based on available scholarship and expert opinion. Condition reports are available on request and buyers are encouraged to inspect lots in person during preview viewings.
IVORY SAS only offers lots that have clear, documented provenance. All lots are subject to due diligence checks in accordance with applicable cultural property laws, including French law on the circulation of cultural goods (Code du patrimoine), CITES regulations governing trade in fossil ivory, and applicable UNESCO conventions on cultural heritage.
Buyers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all laws applicable to their country of residence or destination. Ivory Legacy makes no representation as to whether a lot may lawfully be imported into any jurisdiction.
The Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot before or during the sale without liability. If a lot is unsold (bought-in), no contract of sale is formed.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ivory Legacy's liability to any Buyer shall not exceed the total sum paid by that Buyer for the relevant lot. We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or special loss howsoever arising.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by French law. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Paris (Tribunal de commerce de Paris), unless mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
